Scale and visual impact
L9Q is the choice when the brief calls for a truly large image and maximum brightness headroom. Its TriChroma engine targets a very wide colour gamut, and its flagship positioning suits large open-plan residences. LS970 is easier to integrate into rooms where 100 to 150 inches is already substantial and where 3LCD imaging is preferred.
Integrated sound and system design
L9Q’s Devialet-engineered 6.2.2 system is unusually substantial for a projector and can reduce the need for separate audio in a clean living-room installation. LS970’s Bose-tuned 2.1-channel system is designed for simple everyday use. For a dedicated cinematic soundstage, either projector can feed a separate AV system.
Which is the better investment?
Choose based on the finished system rather than the projector alone. L9Q makes sense when its greater scale, picture formats and sound are part of the design brief. LS970 can be the more balanced premium choice when a 150-inch maximum, shorter throw ratio and 3LCD presentation fit the room better.
